THE IMPORTANCE OF MENOPAUSE AWARENESS & SUPPORT
Menopause is a crucial but often overlooked subject that deserves more attention. By breaking the silence, dispelling myths, and fostering education and support, my goal is to empower women to embrace this transformative phase of life with strength and resilience.
Silenced Stigma
Menopause has long been shrouded in secrecy and stigma, with many women feeling ashamed or embarrassed to discuss it openly. This silence perpetuates misinformation and leaves women feeling unprepared for the changes they'll inevitably face.
Lack of Information
Despite being a natural phase of life, menopause is often misunderstood and misrepresented. Many women are unaware of the symptoms they may experience or the options available for managing them. This lack of information can lead to unnecessary suffering and confusion.
Empowerment through Education
By providing accurate information and creating supportive communities, we can empower women to navigate menopause with confidence and grace. Through initiatives like the Menomoxie Collective discussion group, women can learn from each other, share their experiences, and access the resources they need to thrive during this transition.

Mastering Menopause & Harnessing Hormones
MENOPAUSE-PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS
Menopause brings a slew of physical changes that can significantly impact a woman's quality of life. These may include hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness. Physical symptoms of muscle weakness, bone loss, joint aches and pains, tendonitis and even changes in libido. Managing these symptoms can be challenging and may require a combination of lifestyle adjustments, medical interventions, and holistic approaches.
EMOTIONAL CHANGES
Menopause isn't just about physical changes; it also affects a woman's emotional well-being. Mood swings, irritability, anxiety, and depression are common during this time. Hormonal fluctuations, coupled with life transitions and societal expectations, can exacerbate these emotional challenges, making it crucial for women to receive adequate support and understanding.
BONE HEALTH & CARDIOVASCULAR RISKS
Estrogen plays a vital role in maintaining bone density and cardiovascular health. As estrogen levels decline during menopause, women become more susceptible to osteoporosis and heart disease. Addressing these risks requires proactive measures such as regular exercise, a healthy diet, and possibly hormone replacement therapy (HRT), under the guidance of healthcare professionals.

Abigail Abbott- BA, MSPT, CLT
I'm Abigail Abbott, and I've been on a mission to empower women through physical therapy for over 25 years. My inquisitive nature drives me to relentlessly seek solutions for my patients, helping them reduce pain and reclaim their quality of life.
San Miguel de Allende has been my sanctuary since 1976, where I began my journey as a solo Physical Therapist. Growing up attending Escuela Bilingue and caring for my father until his passing in 2015, I've deepened my roots in this vibrant community.
My expertise lies in women's health, particularly in treating pelvic floor dysfunction. Through continuous training with the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, I've developed specialized techniques like Real Time Ultrasound to provide targeted treatment for issues like incontinence, pelvic pain, and organ prolapse.
But I don't stop there. I also offer comprehensive care in orthopedic and neurological physical therapy, as well as addressing lymphedema-related concerns.
As women's health needs evolve, so does my practice. That's why I've established the Menomoxie Collective discussion group, where I educate and empower women through peri-menopause and menopause.
I'm more than just a physical therapist; I'm a partner on your journey to wellness. Together, let's uncover your path to a healthier, more vibrant life. I can't wait to work with you!
